A Listening Revolution

Listening reminds people of their dignity.

You are special, enough, important in my eyes.

So important that I am willing to give you my full attention.

To hear you fully, seek to understand you.  Your needs, longings, desires.

Listening says I see you and affirms your human story.

Listening communicates you are beautiful in God’s eyes and in mine.

The listener offers time and touch.  The time offered touches something deep.

A warmth.

A welcome.

An unhurried love.

Loving eyes communicate I am happy to be with you. Joy in your presence.

“I wonder”

“I noticed”

“Tell me more”

Oh, what a spacious space the land of listening is!

Before I discovered this land, ego robbed the joy listening brings.

Flow of words. Disrespect. Invisible. Shame. Pain.

True listening heals and fosters belonging.

We can listen someone into existence, indeed.

And for this reason, I seek to stay on the listening path.

Leaning into its goodness.

Longing to be shaped by the life it brings.

To be a listening presence to a people so worthy of being heard.
